Sola Fide (Faith Alone)
Sola Fide (faith alone) teaches that we are justified by grace through faith alone, not of works. We can not put our faith in our works as a means to justify ourselves before God. Paul writes, “For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law” (Romans 3:28 LSB). Faith is substance that justifies us just as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness” (Romans 4:3) so we must also believe in Christ unto righteousness. Sola Fide guards the gospel by declaring that Christ’s righteousness is imputed through faith and is evidenced through confessing Christ as Lord (Romans 5,1; 10:10). It is the heart of the Gospel and essential doctrine for salvation.
